“Tour de Force” is a group of aproximately 50 members of An Garda Siochana (the Irish Police Force) based in Dublin City, Ireland and their friends and family, who take part in an annual sponsored cycle event in aid of various local, national and international charities.

“Tour de Force” sponsored cycles first took place in 1991, when the group cycled to Ashford in Co. Wicklow. Since the initial event, “Tour de Force” has gone from strength to strength.

In 2005 we cycled 650km’s from Roscoff in North Western France to San Sebastian in Northern Spain, in aid of the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation,Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin 12 and a Re-Building Programme in Haiti. Funds raised exceeded €100,000.

In 2006 we cycled 620km’s along Ireland’s West Coast from Letterkenny in Co Donegal to Kenmare in Co. Kerry, in aid of ‘Debra Ireland’. Funds raised exceeded €90,000.

In 2007 we cycled 600km’s from Madrid in central Spain to Marbella on Spain’s southern coast. Due to the wonderful experience had by all working with ‘Debra Ireland’ in 2006, we were very proud to again associate ourselves with ‘Debra Ireland’ and in turn, all funds raised in the 2007 went directly to ’DEBRA IRELAND’. Funds raised exceeded €100,000.

In 2008 we cycled 600km’s from Marrowbone Lane in Dublin City Centre to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, in aid of the Christina Noble Childrens Foundation (CNCF) and the Re Nua Project at Saint John of God, Celbridge, Co. Kildare. Funds raised exceeded €110,000. The funds raised on behalf of CNCF will fund the building and fitting out of a medical centre and childcare facility in Mi Kong Delta of Vietnam.

Citando: "All funds raised from the 2009 Tour de Force Cycle will go directly to AWARE, which is a voluntary organisation established in 1985 to provide support to those suffering from depression and their families. Depression is a treatable illness, but in severe and un-treated cases, it can result in suicide. Depression remains a widely under-reported condition due to lack of recognition as well as the stigma which still surrounds all types of mental ill-health. Experts suggest that as many as 90% of suicides can be traced back to depression."
